Michigan School for The Deaf
Flint, Michigan

The delivery included the concept, design and financing, as well as leasing the final product to the State of Michigan – Department of Education. This 115,000-square-foot facility boasts a state-of-the-art academic building to support deaf education with today’s available technologies. 

This project served as the first component in redevelopment of an 80-acre campus formerly owned by the State of Michigan. The purchase and required legislation was negotiated to ultimately deliver a win-win-win solution for the deaf community, State of Michigan, and the City of Flint.

In March 2010, the oversized and aging campus had placed the future of the school in jeopardy of closing. In June 2012, keys were delivered to a new school building with a bright future!

Luke M. Powers Catholic High School Campus
Flint, Michigan

This was the ultimate in creative project financing and delivery to provide a solution to the future of two prominent Flint schools. The insurmountable task of negotiated land control from the State of Michigan was achieved in an effort to bring new life to an aging 80-acre campus, and to provide a solution to the Diocese of Lansing and their prior failed attempts to relocate Powers High School. The existing 68,000-square-foot academic building renovation was completed, as well as a 90,000-square-foot commons, theater, administration and gymnasium addition.

This project served as the second component of the redevelopment of the campus formerly owned by the State of Michigan.

Blackstone’s Pub & Grill
Flint, Michigan

Lurvey White provided the concept, design and financing, as well as the tenant leasing. In 2008, the downtown corridor of Flint, Michigan, had achieved new office space and local university growth. The progression lacked one thing – new restaurant offerings, as well as entertainment. Local leaders turned to our team to deliver. As stakeholders in the continued progression, Blackstone's, an upscale pub, was opened in the heart of downtown in 2008. This vision continues to serve as a catalyst for the revitalization of the downtown restaurant and entertainment district.

Flint Farmers' Market
Flint, Michigan

D W Lurvey aggressively worked with all stakeholders to provide program management and turnkey delivery of an award-winning adaptive reuse of the former Flint Journal Press Building into a community market boasting over 50 vendors, six full-service restaurants, a community space, exterior pavilion and rooftop public space. Detail and organization was critical to coordinate design of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems to support more than 50 separate vendors with individual needs. This community gem was delivered under an aggressive six-month schedule, and has continued to emerge as a critical community hub.

Three months later, a turnkey system design was implemented.
